Woods in Service webinar, December 11, 12:00 – 1:00 PM and repeated 7:00 – 8:00 PM ET. One of the best-kept secrets of Pennsylvania is that it is one of the leading wood-producing states in the country. From pulp and paper, lumber, fine veneer, and cabinets and furniture, "Penn's Woods" have provided folks with jobs and products for more than three centuries. And as we enter the age of renewable energy, Pennsylvania is once again at the forefront of wood utilization, this time producing energy to reduce our dependence on foreign fossil fuels. This webinar will touch on the history of wood in Pennsylvania and where the industry is likely to go in the future. Presented by Chuck Ray, Associate Professor, Penn State Department of Ecosystem Science and Management.
