Toss Your Hat in the Ring Workshop, January 30 (snow date - February 6), 7:00 – 9:00 PM, Penn State Extension office in Wayne County, 648 Park Street, Suite E, Honesdale PA 18431. Cost: $25. Pre-registration, including payment is required by January 25. This interactive session is designed to help you become involved in local government - your borough, township, or school district - by seeking elected or appointed office. The workshop includes an introduction to the structure and purpose of Pennsylvania local government, a look at the duties of local officials, and an overview of elected and appointed positions. We'll also provide a guided tour of the mechanics of candidacy: eligibility, petitions, financial reports, rules and regulations. The workshop winds up with a lively discussion with a panel of local officials who will share their experiences and answer your questions. For more information, visit
